Terms of Use
The terms on which you may use the Ummah Connect app and this website. Plain language, and short, because there is not much to argue about in a free prayer-times app.
The one that matters most: prayer times in this app are calculated, not received from your mosque. Different methods and schools of thought give different minutes. Where the app and your local mosque disagree, follow your mosque, and change the method in Settings so the app matches it.
On this page
1. Agreeing to these terms
By installing or using Ummah Connect, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, uninstall the app - there is no account to close and nothing further to do.
2. What the app is
Ummah Connect is a free tool for daily worship: calculated prayer times with an azaan alert, a Qibla direction, the Quran with audio, a Qaida course, duas, a tasbeeh counter, a Zakat calculator, guides for wudu, Haj and Umrah, live broadcasts from the two Harams, and a 3D Virtual Haram.
It is a tool, not a scholar. Nothing in it is a fatwa, and it does not replace a qualified teacher or your local imam.
3. Prayer times are calculated
The app computes prayer times from your location, the date, the calculation method you select and the school of thought you select. This is arithmetic, and honest people disagree about which parameters to use - which is exactly why the app lets you choose them.
- Two valid methods can differ by several minutes for Fajr and Isha.
- Asr moves depending on the school of thought you follow.
- An inaccurate or stale device location produces inaccurate times.
Use the app as a reminder and a convenience. For a prayer where the minute matters, your local mosque's announced time takes precedence over anything on a screen.
4. Religious content
Quran text, translations, duas and guidance in the app are reproduced from established sources, and are provided for your personal reading and study. We take accuracy seriously and will correct a reported error in religious content as a priority. If you find one, write to reviewummahconnect@gmail.com.
Translations are translations. Where a translation and the Arabic appear to differ, the Arabic governs.
5. What you may and may not do
You may install and use the app on your own devices, for yourself and your family, for free, for as long as you like.
You may not: decompile or reverse engineer the app; strip out or block the advertising that pays for it and redistribute the result; republish its content as your own product; or upload a modified build of it to any store.
6. Advertising
The app is free because it shows ads through Google AdMob. Advertisers and their content are not chosen by us, and an ad appearing in the app is not an endorsement of it. If you see an ad that is inappropriate beside religious content, send us a screenshot and we will report it.
7. Third-party content
Some features stream or fetch content from servers we do not run - Quran audio, the live Makkah and Madinah broadcasts, and mosque search through Google Maps. Their availability, accuracy and terms are theirs, not ours. If one of them goes down, that feature stops working until it comes back.
8. Availability and changes
The app is provided as it is, when it is. We may add features, change them or remove them, and we may stop publishing the app altogether. We do not promise uninterrupted service, and we are not able to guarantee that Android will never silence a notification on a particular phone.
9. No warranty
To the fullest extent the law allows, the app is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranty of any kind - express or implied - including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted operation. You use it at your own discretion.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app - including a missed prayer, a missed fast, a wrong Qibla reading, or a Zakat figure you did not verify. The app is free, and our total liability to you is limited accordingly.
Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
