Privacy Policy
This page describes what Ummah Connect does with your information. It was written by reading the app's own source code, not from a template.
The short version: the app has no user accounts, so you never give us your name or email. Your settings and downloads stay on your phone. Location and the microphone are used on your device for specific features you choose to open. The app does show Google AdMob ads, and it does send anonymous usage and crash data to Google Firebase. Nothing else leaves your phone to us.

1. Who this policy is from
Ummah Connect is an Android application published on Google Play under the package name com.aslambelim.ummahconnect. This policy covers that app and this website, ummahconnect.co.in.
You can reach us at any time at reviewummahconnect@gmail.com.
2. We do not have an account for you
This matters enough to say before anything else. Ummah Connect has no sign-up, no login and no user profile. There is no screen anywhere in the app that asks for your name, your email address, your phone number or a password, and there is no server of ours storing a record about you.
That means a large part of a normal privacy policy simply does not apply here. We cannot email you, we cannot recognise you across devices, and we cannot hand over your data to anyone, because we do not hold any.
3. What is stored, and where
Everything the app remembers about you is stored on your own phone, in the app's private storage, and is removed when you uninstall the app.
| What | Where it is kept |
|---|---|
| Your chosen language, calculation method and school of thought | On your phone only |
| Azaan voice choice and notification settings | On your phone only |
| Tasbeeh counts, targets and history | On your phone only |
| Downloaded Quran text, pages and recitation audio | On your phone only |
| Your last-read position and reading preferences | On your phone only |
| Your location | Used in the moment, not stored by us |
None of the rows above are uploaded to us.
4. Location
The app requests approximate and precise location. It is used for three things, all computed on your device:
- Prayer times - your latitude and longitude, with your chosen method, produce the five times for today.
- Qibla - the direction to the Kaaba is a calculation from where you are standing.
- Nearby mosques - here the app does not search for you. It hands a mosque search to Google Maps, and from that point Google's own privacy policy applies to what you do in Maps.
Your coordinates are not transmitted to us and are not stored in any log we hold. You can refuse the permission; prayer times can then be set from a location you pick yourself, and the Qibla compass will not be able to orient.
5. Microphone
The app requests microphone access for exactly one feature: voice search inside the Dua screen, so you can find a dua by saying it instead of typing Arabic.
When you tap the microphone there, the app uses Android's own speech recognition service to turn your speech into text. That service is part of your phone and is usually provided by Google, which means your spoken words are processed under Google's terms. We do not record audio, we do not keep audio, and no audio file is created by this app.
The microphone is never opened unless you tap that button. If you decline the permission, every other part of the app continues to work.
6. Notifications, alarms and battery
To call the azaan at the right minute, the app asks for notification permission, the right to schedule exact alarms, the right to start after your phone reboots, and an exemption from battery optimisation.
These are used only to make the prayer alert fire on time and to play the azaan as a foreground service. They do not give the app access to any of your content, and none of them send anything anywhere.
7. Advertising
Ummah Connect is free and is paid for by advertising. It uses Google AdMob, and ads appear on a small number of screens.
AdMob is operated by Google, not by us. To serve and measure ads it may use your device's advertising ID, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and information about your device. We do not receive your personal details from Google and we do not pass anything about you to Google beyond what the AdMob SDK collects on its own.
You are in control of this at the Android level, not ours:
- Settings → Privacy → Ads lets you reset your advertising ID, or delete it entirely so apps cannot use it.
- The same screen lets you turn off ad personalisation. You will still see ads; they will be less targeted.
- Google explains what it collects through AdMob at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
8. Analytics and crash reports
The app includes two Google Firebase services:
- Firebase Analytics - counts anonymous, aggregated usage: which screens get opened, app version, device model, Android version and country. It tells us that, say, the Qaida course is being used and the Zakat calculator is not. It does not identify you.
- Firebase Crashlytics - when the app crashes, it sends the crash itself: the stack trace, the device model, the Android version and what the app was doing. This is how a crash gets fixed at all.
Both are processed by Google as our service provider. Neither carries your name, your email or your location, because the app does not have your name or email to send.
9. Other services the app connects to
Some features fetch content from other people's servers. When they do, those servers necessarily see your IP address, in the same way any website you visit does.
| Feature | Whose server |
|---|---|
| Quran text, translation and recitation audio | alquran.cloud |
| Live Makkah and Madinah streams | Saudi broadcast servers (live.net.sa) |
| Some azaan and letter-sound audio | Wikimedia Commons |
| Nearby mosques | Google Maps, opened as a separate app |
| Ads, analytics, crash reports |
We have no control over, and take no responsibility for, the privacy practices of these providers. The app does not send them anything about you beyond the request itself.
10. What the app does not do
Stated plainly, because these are the things people reasonably worry about:
- It does not read your contacts. The permission is not in the app.
- It does not use your camera. The permission is not in the app.
- It does not read your photos, files or messages.
- It does not record audio or video.
- It does not track you between apps or across websites.
- It does not sell, rent or trade anything about you. There is nothing to sell.
- It has no social feed and posts nothing on your behalf.
11. Children
Ummah Connect is written for a general audience, and the Qaida course is genuinely useful to children learning to read. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because it has no way to collect personal information at all - there is no account and no form.
Parents should know that the app shows advertising, and that the Live TV and Virtual Haram features use the internet. If you want a child to use it without ads or a connection, put the phone in aeroplane mode after downloading the Quran; everything offline continues to work.
12. Your choices
- Refuse any permission - the app keeps working, with the feature that needed it disabled.
- Revoke one later - Android Settings → Apps → Ummah Connect → Permissions.
- Reset or delete your advertising ID - Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Remove everything - uninstall the app. See Delete Your Data.
13. Retention and deletion
Because the app keeps your data on your phone, you control how long it is kept: it lasts until you clear the app's storage or uninstall it.
Anonymous analytics and crash data held by Google Firebase are kept under Google's retention periods, which for Analytics events default to a fixed window and for crash reports are limited to what is needed to fix the crash. The full instructions, including how to ask us to purge what we can, are on the Delete Your Data page.
14. Changes to this policy
If the app changes what it collects, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. A change that materially affects you will also be announced in the app before it takes effect. We will not quietly widen what is collected and leave this page as it was.
15. Contact
